Zelenskiy Calls for Global Maritime Security Collaboration in Strait of Hormuz
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy urges global cooperation for maritime freedom in the Strait of Hormuz, citing Ukraine's Black Sea wartime expertise. He highlights potential security challenges that politics alone can't solve and mentions Ukraine's ongoing security agreements in the Middle East.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has called for a coordinated international effort to ensure the freedom of navigation in the strategically important Strait of Hormuz. Drawing on Ukraine's own wartime experiences in the Black Sea, Zelenskiy emphasized the need for effective strategies to counter potential threats.
Addressing a virtual conference hosted by France and Britain, Zelenskiy warned that the decisions made in the Hormuz region now will influence how other aggressive entities perceive opportunities to create disruptions elsewhere. He urged a clear and specific approach to avoid future crises similar to those seen in Gaza.
Zelenskiy also showcased Ukraine's expertise in maritime security, offering to share its experience in blocking hostile actions and coordinating protection missions. Ukrainian specialists have been dispatched across the Middle East, and the nation has secured security cooperation agreements with countries including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates.
