India's Online Gaming Sector Welcomes New Regulatory Clarity

The Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) expressed approval of the recent regulatory notification regarding online gaming. This development follows the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Rules, 2026, under the 2025 Act, bringing much-needed clarity to the burgeoning sector.
IAMAI highlights that these new rules provide essential details on compliance, categorization, and institutional mechanisms, thereby promoting responsible industry growth while safeguarding user interests. The consultative process led by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) allowed for constructive industry dialogue.
