MiG-29K Ejection Seat Overhaul: A Milestone in Indian Self-Reliance

The IAF Base Repair Depot in Nashik has successfully completed the indigenous overhaul of the MiG-29K ejection seat for the Indian Navy, marking a significant achievement in self-reliance. Previously, these seats had to be sent to Russia for maintenance. The overhaul was officially handed over in May.

The Indian Air Force's Base Repair Depot in Nashik has marked a significant milestone in the nation's journey towards self-reliance. They have successfully completed an indigenous overhaul of the MiG-29K ejection seats, which were previously sent to Russia for maintenance, according to a Wednesday defence release.

This achievement is attributed to the depot's extensive experience with the Su-30 MKI ejection seat technology, which was leveraged to develop the overhaul process for the MiG-29K. The process received approval from the airworthiness certification agency, RCMA.

On May 13, the newly overhauled ejection seat was officially handed over to the Navy at a ceremony in Nashik, attended by Air Marshal Yalla Umesh and Vice Admiral Rahul Vilas Gokhale.
