TSMC, the leading contract chipmaker globally, projects the semiconductor market to surpass $1.5 trillion by 2030. This new forecast exceeds the previous $1 trillion estimate and highlights the booming demand driven by AI and high-performance computing, which are expected to account for 55% of the total market.

The company plans accelerated capacity expansion through 2025 and 2026, including nine new phases of wafer fabs and advanced packaging facilities by 2026. TSMC aims to enhance production of its advanced 2-nanometer and A16 chips, achieving a compounded annual growth rate of 70% from 2026 to 2028.

TSMC's global expansion includes new fabs in Arizona, Japan, and Germany. The Arizona site is set for significant output increase by 2026, while Japan has upgraded plans to produce 3-nanometer chips. The German fab remains under construction, set to offer multiple nanometer technologies.
