Israel's Defence Tech Revolution: Combating Hezbollah Drones

Israel is intensifying efforts to counter Hezbollah's drone threat, with Elbit Systems developing laser-based defence systems. Israel's largest defence contractor is taking significant steps to address the threat posed by Hezbollah's explosive drones, which have recently led to casualties among Israeli troops in southern Lebanon. The defence giant, Elbit Systems, is working closely with the Israeli defence ministry to develop laser-based weapon systems as a potential solution, as top leaders promise escalated responses.

In a statement to Reuters, Elbit Systems CEO Bezhalel Machlis shared insights into the company's ongoing efforts, emphasizing the importance of energy weapon solutions in combating these kamikaze drones. Elbit is heavily involved in creating technology to effectively neutralize the drone challenge.

The growing conflict has highlighted the rising need for advanced Israeli defence technologies, especially as similar drones are used intensively in the Russia-Ukraine conflict. With rising international demand, particularly from Europe, the U.S., and the Asia-Pacific, Elbit's initiatives are gaining global traction, marking a significant increase in Israeli defence exports.
