India Launches SkyCast System for Enhanced Aviation Weather Prediction

The inaugural of India's first SkyCast system at New Delhi's IGI Airport marks a significant advancement in aviation weather forecasting, enhancing safety and efficiency. The system integrates real-time atmospheric data to support pilots, airlines, and traffic management, positioning India among elite nations with such advanced technology.

India has introduced its first SkyCast system at New Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport, a significant step forward in aviation weather prediction and management. This system, inaugurated by Jitendra Singh, integrates advanced weather prediction technologies to offer accurate real-time data for airport operations.

SkyCast provides comprehensive meteorological insights by combining data on fog, aerosols, turbulence, and other atmospheric conditions. According to Singh, this development places India among a select group of countries leveraging sophisticated technology for improved aviation safety and operational efficiency.

With only 18 such systems worldwide, this installation cements India's position as the 19th nation to employ such integrated atmospheric remote sensing technologies. M Ravichandran from the Ministry of Earth Sciences highlighted that the system would also enhance India's broader weather forecasting abilities.
