Facebook Inc said on Wednesday an issue with uploading or sending media files on its apps and platforms has been resolved. Earlier in the day, many users globally were not able to send and receive images, videos and other files over its social media platforms including WhatsApp and Instagram, and the social media company said it was working to fix the problem.

After the outrage, many users started getting fake messages that said WhatsApp was banned and would become chargeable in the future. One of the messages received was,

Dear WhatsApp users, Due to some inconvenience in satellite connection with our networks. WhatsApp is banned for a week. where you could not download videos, images, voice records & your status. please forward this message to all your friends, groups & make sure its a problem with the WhatsApp not with any of the respective networks.

Thank you--Google.

Everyone Knows WhatsApp is owned by Facebook and Google has nothing to do with WhatsApp directly, so the message circulated was fake.

Another fake message claimed "WhatsApp will b off from 11:30 pm to 6:00 am Daily and this was directed by the central government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi." is also circulating among users.

Users should ignore these messages and also inform this to there family and friends and alert them from spreading the misinformation. WhatsApp has not officially said anything about the service being charged or banned. Neither the central government which clearly indicates that it is fake news.
