Konstantin Sergeievich Stanislavski was widely recognised as an outstanding character actor and the many productions that he directed garnered him a reputation as one of the leading theatre directors of his generation. Stanislavski was born on 17th January 1863. Tech Gaint Google is celebrating Stanislavski's 156th birthday with a doodle.

Stanislavski was raised in a prominent Russian family that supported his interest in theater as it grew from a hobby to a passion. As a child, Stanislavski was interested in the circus, the ballet, and puppetry and later he focused on acting at first, relentlessly refining his craft in a quest to bring emotional truth to the stage. Stanislavski performed and directed as an amateur until the age of 33, when he co-founded the world-famous Moscow Art Theatre (MAT) company with Vladimir Nemirovich-Danchenko, following a legendary 18-hour discussion.

Stanislavski suffered a heart attack in 1928, and later he conducted most of his work writing, directing rehearsals, and teaching in his home on Leontievski Lane. In recognition of his contributions to Russian theater, he was awarded the Red Banner of Labor, the Order of Lenin, and the title “People's Artist of the U.S.S.R.”

Stanislavski died in his home at 3:45 pm on 7 August 1938, having probably suffered another heart-attack five days earlier.
