Google Doodle celebrates Trịnh Công Sơn's 80th Birthday

Trịnh Công Sơn a famous Vietnamese, musician, songwriter, painter and poet is an important figure in modern (non-classical) Vietnamese music. Trịnh Công Sơn love songs and anti-war songs are notable work by him.

Born in Đắk Lắk in Vietnam's on 28th February, Son was raised in the village of Minh Huong, later he went to Saigon and studied western philosophy at the Lycée Jean-Jacques Rousseau. In 1961, he studied psychology and pedagogy in a school for teachers.

Love is the single biggest recurring theme in Trinh's work. His love songs constitute the majority of the songs. His songs protesting the Vietnam War—particularly those on the 1966 collection Songs of Golden Skin—were popular with soldiers on both sides of the conflict. Before April 30, 1975, Trịnh Công Sơn went on the radio in Saigon to sing the song "Joining Hands/Circle of Unity" about the dream of national reconciliation between the North and the South, which he had written in 1968.

Today Google is celebrating Trịnh Công Sơn's 80th Birthday by dedicating a colourful doodle.
