Jeera futures fall 0.91 pc on profit-booking

Jeera prices fell by 0.91 percent to Rs 19,045 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators trimmed positions to book profits amid lower domestic and exports demand.
Ample stocks position following higher supplies from the producing belts, too, fuelled the downtrend.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for this month fell by Rs 175, or 0.91 percent, to Rs 19,045 per quintal, with an open interest of 5,091 lots. Similarly, the spice for delivery in October moved down by Rs 105, or 0.53 percent, to Rs 19,440 per quintal in 3,675 lots.
Analysts said, besides profit-booking by speculators at existing levels, fall in demand at the spot markets against adequate stocks position and reports on improved rains in central Gujarat's major jeera producing area weighed on prices.
