Barley futures move up on spot cues

Barley prices rose by Rs 7.50 to Rs 1,628 per quintal in futures trade today as traders enhanced holdings in line with rising physical markets.
Marketmen said operators were collecting holdings following positive spot cues, which pushed barley futures to trade higher.
In the spot market, increased demand for beer making industries following halt in supplies from producing belts held the prices positive, they added.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, barley for September marked up by Rs 7.50, or 0.46 percent, to Rs 1,628 per quintal with an open interest of 1,500 lots.
Also, the delivery for October went up by Rs 5, or 0.30 percent, to Rs 1,665 per quintal in the business turnover of 7,180 open interest lots.
