Dairy start-up Sid's Farm Pvt Ltd aims to achieve a 50 percent increase in its turnover in the current fiscal from Rs 43.7 crore in the previous year, on expected strong demand.

The company sells unadulterated cow and buffalo milk as well as milk products like paneer and curd to customers in and around Hyderabad on a subscription basis.

The Hyderabad-based firm sources milk from a network of 1,500 farmers also from its own dairy farm of 80 animals.

''We started with 20 animals in 2013. Since then, we've been growing with an increase in demand for our products. We have been slowly expanding and then adding to our network of farmers,'' Sid's Farm founder and Managing Director Kishore Idukuri told PTI.

With the large potential to tap the market in and around Hyderabad and even other cities like Bengaluru in southern India, the company expects its turnover to grow by 50 percent from over last year's level of Rs 43.7 crore, he said.

To expand the business, Idukuri said the company for the first time is planning fundraising from the market in the next six months.

''We are right now focusing only on Hyderabad. Before the pandemic, we had a small stint in Bengaluru, but it did not take off because of inter-state transportation issues. But, our goal is to expand to other cities,'' he said.

Currently, the company procures about 21,000 liters per day of milk (both cow and buffalo milk), while it has a chilling capacity of 25,000 liters per day.

Idukuri, an IIT-Kharagpur graduate who quit his job in the US to start a dairy venture, said the company is leveraging on technologies to provide better service to farmers and quality products to customers.

He also said the company follows stringent quality testing to ensure unadulterated milk is delivered to consumers.

''We adhere to strict norms of testing milk extensively for antibiotics, hormones, and preservatives, and other quality parameters daily. We do on an average about 2,000 tests daily to ensure the best milk reaches the consumer,'' he said.

This tested milk is then pasteurized, chilled, and delivered directly to the customer, he added.

Sid's Farm sells cow whole milk at Rs 75 per liter and buffalo whole milk at Rs 90 per liter at present.
