Central Railway's Mega Block Disrupts Mumbai Commuters

Central Railway's 63-hour mega block to widen and extend platforms at Thane and CSMT stations has severely disrupted local train services in Mumbai. Over 350 laborers and 250 technical staff are working round-the-clock. With many train cancellations, passengers faced significantly longer and more cumbersome commutes.

Central Railway’s 63-hour mega block, aimed at widening and extending platforms at Thane and CSMT, has caused significant disruptions to Mumbai local train services. On its second day, Saturday, commuters faced severe inconveniences from numerous train cancellations and restrictions.

Over 350 laborers at Thane and 250 skilled staff at CSMT are working around the clock to ensure projects are completed on time. Officers and supervisors closely oversee the progress, with cementing work nearing completion at Thane’s platform numbers 5 and 6.

Commuters were forced to seek alternative means of transport as the mega block affected 930 suburban locals and 86 long-distance trains. The CR has opened additional UTS counters and sent bulk messages to inform long-distance travelers about the disruptions. The block, ending by Sunday afternoon, aims to improve capacity for longer trains.
