Assam CM Monitors Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express Derailment

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed on Thursday that no casualties from his state have been reported in the recent derailment of the Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express in Uttar Pradesh.
The tragic incident, which occurred near Gonda, resulted in four fatalities and 20 injuries when eight coaches of the Assam-bound train derailed around 2:35 pm.
Sarma noted that support teams are on standby and reassured that he is monitoring the situation closely.
According to a Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) bulletin, a special train has been arranged to transport the stranded passengers to Dibrugarh, and helpline numbers have been established for further assistance.
In a statement on X, Sarma expressed his shock and commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of everyone affected.
The NFR bulletin further confirmed that passengers are being transported by bus to Mankapur station near Gonda, from where they will continue their journey to Dibrugarh via a special train with designated stoppages.
Additionally, three NFR trains are being diverted due to the accident: the Katihar-Amritsar Amrapali Express, the Guwahati-Jammu Tawi Amarnath Express, and the Lalgarh-Dibrugarh Avadh Assam Express.
Helpline numbers have been activated at multiple railway stations to provide information to the public about the incident and subsequent travel arrangements.
