Derailed Dreams: Tragic Train Accident Shakes Passengers

A tragic train derailment on the Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express in Motiganj, near Gonda, left two passengers dead and several injured. Eyewitness Sandeep Kumar recalls the cries and chaos as he and others escaped through windows. Rescue operations were swiftly conducted, with local villagers assisting in the recovery and aid efforts.

A tragic train derailment occurred on Thursday when the Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express derailed near the Motiganj area, approximately 150 km from Lucknow. At least eight coaches left the tracks, resulting in two fatalities and multiple injuries.

Eyewitness Sandeep Kumar described the chaotic moments following the derailment. 'I remember the loud cries of a boy sitting on the berth across from me. For a moment, the coach was filled with dust and it was all dark. Some passengers helped me get out through the window,' he said.

Rescue operations were promptly initiated, with assistance from local villagers. Injured passengers were taken to the Community Health Centre in Mankapur and other nearby hospitals, with severely injured individuals being referred to the Gonda District Hospital. Police and rescuers worked diligently to ensure no passenger was left behind in the damaged coaches.
