A surge in ridership was observed on Kolkata's Dakshineswar-New Garia (Blue Line) Metro, with around 1.92 lakh passengers commuting until 3 pm on the day of the Trinamool Congress's major political rally.
The Metro Railway, Kolkata, reported an almost 80 percent increase compared to the previous Sunday, when only 1.07 lakh passengers traveled by the same time.
Additional arrangements, including extra counters at various stations, were made to ensure smooth services for the influx of passengers converging from multiple districts to attend the TMC's Martyrs' Day rally held annually on July 21.
