The Odisha government has issued a directive to transport authorities to confiscate vehicles operating without valid fitness certificates and to initiate legal proceedings against their owners.

In a circular, Transport Commissioner Amitabh Thakur ordered officers to take stringent action against such vehicles, including fines and seizure, in accordance with the Central Motor Vehicles Act 1988, an official statement said on Tuesday.
