Assam's Ambitious Push for Defence Corridor and Socio-Economic Advancements

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma revealed that Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has positively responded to the proposal to establish India's third defence corridor in Assam. The corridor is expected to significantly boost the state's economy.
During his New Delhi visit, Sarma also discussed pressing state matters with Union ministers. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman spoke about funding a satellite township near Guwahati and expanding the Brahmaputra Valley Fertiliser Corporation in Namrup. Union Home Minister Amit Shah assured swift resolution of issues regarding blocked Aadhaar cards, affecting over 9.23 lakh people.
Sarma met with Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, requesting a special train service from Guwahati to Lucknow for pilgrimages to the Ram Temple. He also discussed a new domicile policy for local job preferences and the recognition of Assamese as a classical language with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Moreover, Sarma highlighted Assam's significant economic growth.
