Goa's per capita income surged to Rs 5,96,260 in 2022-23, up from Rs 2,41,893 in 2013-14, showcasing a thriving economy, according to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant during a Niti Aayog meeting. The state's GSDP also grew significantly, with Goa becoming a leading international tourist destination and a hub for the pharmaceutical industry.
Goa's per capita income has seen a massive rise, reaching Rs 5,96,260 in 2022-23 from Rs 2,41,893 in 2013-14, indicating a robust economic environment. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant highlighted these figures at a recent Niti Aayog meeting.
The state's Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) has also shown remarkable growth, climbing to Rs 74,157.92 crore in 2020-21 from Rs 38,120.02 crore in 2013-14. Goa has become a top choice for international tourists, attracting 88.46 lakh visitors in 2023-24, including 4.14 lakh international tourists.
Sawant also pointed out India's status as a global hub for medical tourism and its large-scale pharmaceutical industry, which contributes significantly to Goa's exports. With promising infrastructure, Goa is poised to become an export and logistics hub for pharmaceuticals in the future.
