Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday sought the cooperation of senior officers from Odisha working in central government roles to help create a 'New Odisha' by 2036, commemorating the state's 100th anniversary.
During a press briefing in New Delhi following a meeting with Odisha cadre IAS officers and other senior officials on central deputation, Majhi emphasized the state's mission to achieve developed status by 2047, coinciding with India's centennial of independence. The meeting saw participation from Deputy Chief Ministers K V Singh Deo and Pravati Parida, Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, among other key officials.
The Chief Minister's Office (CMO) issued a press statement highlighting Majhi’s call for officers' support to fast-track the implementation of proposals discussed at the recent NITI Aayog governing council meeting. Majhi underlined the necessity of Centre-state collaboration to accomplish the goal of a developed Odisha, spotlighting opportunities from PM Modi's 'Purvodaya' plan.
Majhi requested central backing for industrial corridors, railway and airport infrastructure projects, disaster-resilient infrastructure, hydropower storage facilities, and promoting financial inclusion through enhanced banking infrastructure in underserved regions. He asserted that these developments require coordinated efforts between the Centre and the state to succeed.
