Kumar Mangalam Birla, the industrialist and chairman of the Aditya Birla Group, met with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday at the state secretariat, Nabanna. The meeting was described by Banerjee as a courtesy visit, during which they explored new business opportunities in the state.
Banerjee took to social media to highlight the group's interest in investing in various sectors and opening a world-class educational institute in Kolkata. She assured the group of her government's full support for these ventures.
“Mr. Kumar Mangalam Birla, Chairman of the Aditya Birla Group, met me at Nabanna this afternoon. While this was a courtesy visit, he discussed with me the business opportunities of Bengal and their investment intentions here,” Banerjee posted on X.
The group has ongoing and planned projects worth Rs 5,000 crore in different sectors such as cement and paint manufacturing. The discussions also included future investments and the opening of the educational institute. Banerjee assured Birla of her government's backing for these initiatives.
