Lubrizol's Major Expansion in India: New Aurangabad Plant to Boost Local Industry
Lubrizol Corporation has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Maharashtra government to acquire a 120-acre plot in Aurangabad. The $200 million investment aims to support the transportation and industrial markets. The facility will be Lubrizol's largest in India, enhancing regional supply chains and promoting local innovation.
The Lubrizol Corporation, a frontrunner in specialty chemicals, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the government of Maharashtra to purchase a 120-acre plot in Aurangabad, India. This strategic move is aimed at meeting the growing demand in the region’s transportation and industrial fluid markets.
The project, representing an initial investment of approximately $200 million, will see the construction of Lubrizol's largest Indian manufacturing facility and its second-largest globally. The construction will be executed in phases over the coming years, allowing for future expansion to cater to additional market needs.
“This state-of-the-art manufacturing facility will significantly enhance our local capacity,” said Flavio Kliger, President of Lubrizol Additives. The new plant heralds Lubrizol's continued commitment to India, building on a USD 150 million pledge announced earlier this year to establish the world’s largest CPVC resin plant in Gujarat, and the launch of a Global Capability Center in Pune.
