Ukraine Fends Off Russian Drone and Missile Barrage
Two people were injured and two homes damaged in Ukraine after Russian drones were shot down near the capital. This marked the second consecutive night of attacks. Ukrainian air force neutralized all drones, with no direct hits reported to residential areas. The assault follows Russia's major drone offensive.
Debris from Russian drones shot down by Ukraine injured two people and damaged two homes in the region surrounding the capital in the second such attack on the area in as many nights, Kyiv authorities said on Thursday. Officials confirmed there were no direct hits to residential or critical infrastructure.
The air force reported intercepting all seven Shahed-type drones deployed in the attack. This assault came just a day after Ukraine noted that Russia had employed 87 drones against the country in one of its largest drone offensives since the war began in February 2022. No casualties were reported from the interception of a drone in the Dnipropetrovsk region, according to its governor.
In a separate event, Russia launched Iskander-M ballistic missiles at Kharkiv overnight, injuring one person. Additionally, Ukraine's national railways Ukrzaliznytsia reported significant damage to tracks, power supply facilities, and several locomotives and passenger cars resulting from the missile strikes.
