India's Agricultural Progress Highlighted at International Conference

Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan emphasized India’s agricultural advancements under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership at the 32nd International Conference of Agricultural Economists. He discussed the focus on increased and safe production, the adverse effects of chemical fertilizers, and the shift towards natural farming to ensure future food security.

Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan underscored the significant advancements in India's agricultural sector under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership at the 32nd International Conference of Agricultural Economists (ICAE) in New Delhi. Chouhan highlighted India's top global ranking in agricultural development, noting efforts to boost production while ensuring safety for both human health and soil well-being.

Chouhan expressed concerns over the detrimental impacts of excessive chemical fertilizer use on soil and human health, announcing India's shift towards natural farming practices. He emphasized the nation's commitment to eradicating hunger, tackling climate change, and safeguarding future food security amidst rising temperatures.

Professor Ramesh Chandra of NITI Aayog noted India's historically high agricultural growth rate of 5 percent over seven years, supported by World Bank data. Professor Matin Qaim, ICAE 2024 President, called for a multifaceted approach to agricultural challenges, including scientific innovation, political will, societal openness, and international cooperation.
