Industrial Worker Inflation Eases to 3.67% in June

Retail inflation for industrial workers in India decreased to 3.67% in June 2024 from 3.86% in May 2024, thanks to lower food item prices. The Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) rose to 141.4 points from 139.9 points in May. The Labour Bureau compiles this data monthly based on retail prices from 317 markets across 88 industrial centres.

Retail inflation for industrial workers in India decreased to 3.67% in June 2024, down from 3.86% in the previous month, largely due to lower prices of certain food items.

The Labour Ministry's statement highlighted that the year-on-year inflation rate has moderated significantly, down to 3.67% in June 2024 from 5.57% in June 2023.

The All-India Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) for June 2024 stood at 141.4 points, compared to 139.9 points in May 2024. Notably, the Food and Beverages Group under the CPI-IW rose to 148.7 points in June 2024 from 145.2 points in the previous month. The Labour Bureau, an attached office of the Ministry of Labour & Employment, compiles this data monthly based on retail prices from 317 different markets across 88 industrial hubs in the country.
