Delhi to Implement WhatsApp Traffic Challans: LG's Directive

Delhi is set to introduce traffic challans via WhatsApp, as directed by Lt Governor V K Saxena. This initiative aims to improve traffic management, enhance road safety, and streamline the challan payment process. Saxena also emphasized the need for AI-based cameras and collaborative efforts to address traffic issues.

Delhi residents will soon receive traffic challans on WhatsApp. This initiative, mandated by Lt Governor V K Saxena during a recent meeting, aims to expedite the process of traffic rule enforcement.

Given the current traffic situation in Delhi, Saxena is now reviewing it every two weeks. He expressed deep concern over illegal parking, particularly by buses on roadsides and flyovers, which hampers commuters and exacerbates vehicular pollution.

Saxena directed the traffic police to boost their presence and sensibility on the roads. He urged a joint effort with the transport department to curb overloading in commercial vehicles and overcrowding in passenger buses. An AI-based Automatic Number Plate recognition system will be introduced to better manage traffic violations. Special drives to impound illegal e-rickshaws and enforce bus lane rules will also be launched.
