The Prayagraj Rail Division under the North Central Railway zone has launched a 10-day inspection drive in the pantry cars of trains starting August 15, following numerous complaints against the service staff. According to a circular from August 14, 2024, the Division urged commercial inspectors and chief ticket examiners to address issues ranging from overcharging to misbehavior and the sale of products by staff allegedly under the influence of alcohol.
The directive mandates officials to conduct inspections in the pantry cars of all trains crossing the division through August 24 to identify and act against any errant catering service providers. A comprehensive report is expected by noon on August 25, 2024.
Sources within the division indicate that the ongoing drive has been effective, validating several complaints about the pantry staff. 'A report will be submitted post-inspection, and stringent measures will be taken against those involved in anti-passenger activities,' commented an official from the division.
