FAA Issues Airworthiness Directive on Boeing 787 Dreamliners

This follows a March incident where a LATAM Airlines plane experienced a sudden dive, injuring over 50 passengers, due to uncommanded captain's seat movement, which caused the auto-pilot to disconnect.

The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said on Monday it was adopting an airworthiness directive for Boeing 787 Dreamliners following an incident in March when a LATAM Airlines plane went into a sudden mid-air dive, injuring more than 50 passengers.

The FAA stated the apparent reason for the dive was the uncommanded movement of the captain's seat, which caused the auto-pilot to disconnect.

This new directive aims to ensure such issues are prevented, thereby enhancing the safety measures for Boeing 787 flights moving forward.
