A devastating bus accident in Nepal has left 27 Indian pilgrims dead and 16 others injured. The accident occurred when the bus carrying the pilgrims veered off the highway into the Marsyangdi river. The victims, all hailing from Maharashtra, were on a 10-day tour of Nepal.
The Indian Air Force deployed a special flight to transport the bodies of 25 deceased to Jalgaon in Maharashtra. Two other bodies, those of the bus driver and his assistant, will reach Maharajganj in Uttar Pradesh later on Saturday evening along with 51 other passengers.
Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Raksha Nikhil Khadse and Maharashtra MLA Sanjay Savkare arrived in Kathmandu to oversee the repatriation process. Khadse expressed gratitude towards the Nepalese authorities for their prompt assistance in rescue and recovery operations.
