In a crucial announcement, Infosys CEO Salil Parekh has confirmed that offers extended to freshers will be kept intact, notwithstanding the postponement in their onboarding schedules.
His statement comes amid reports that Infosys has delayed the induction of 2,000 new engineering graduates from the 2022 cohort, raising significant concerns.
Adding fuel to the issue, the IT and ITES union, Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES), recently lodged a complaint with the Ministry of Labour and Employment against Infosys, citing continuous delays and additional hurdles faced by these graduates.
Despite the onboarding setbacks, Infosys has stated its intentions to hire between 15,000 and 20,000 freshers this year, driven by its latest financial performance, which saw a 7% rise in consolidated net profit to Rs 6,368 crore for Q1 and an upward revision of its annual growth forecast.
The company's headcount at the end of June 2024 stood at 315,332, down from 336,294 the previous year. Utilisation levels have also increased to 83.9% from 78.9%, indicating better resource management.
Infosys Chief Financial Officer Jayesh Sanghrajka confirmed the company's optimistic hiring outlook, tying future recruitment numbers to anticipated growth patterns for the rest of the fiscal year.
