Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday marked the 10th anniversary of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, lauding the initiative for its contributions to financial inclusion, dignity, and empowerment. He praised those involved in making the scheme a success, citing its substantial impact on financial security for millions of Indians.
In a post on X, Modi congratulated beneficiaries and highlighted the program's achievements, including over 53 crore bank accounts opened, with a significant presence in rural and semi-urban areas. The scheme has also facilitated direct transfers worth nearly Rs. 39 lakh crore.
Modi emphasized that the Jan Dhan Yojana goes beyond impressive numbers, playing a pivotal role in women's empowerment and positively impacting marginalized communities. He noted its integration with other government initiatives and digital payment systems as crucial for India's economic growth and development.
