The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has ordered a thorough investigation following the discovery of an aircraft engine part outside the Delhi airport, as reported on Wednesday.
Although initial reports suggest the metal part might belong to an Air India Express flight that had to perform an emergency landing on Monday, the airline has refrained from confirming the information. According to sources, the part likely comprises a broken blade from an aircraft engine.
An Air India Express spokesperson confirmed that flight IX 145 faced an engine issue after its September 2 takeoff from Delhi, leading to a precautionary landing. The matter, reported to the regulator and other agencies, is currently under investigation.
The Delhi Police received a call from Vasant Vihar resident Shivani Pathak, who reported metal pieces falling on her property from an aircraft. A technical team is now tasked with determining if these pieces match the problematic aircraft.
