IIT Guwahati Partners with Airbus to Bolster Aviation Education in Northeast
IIT Guwahati has partnered with Airbus India to enhance aviation and logistics education in Assam, aiming to uplift the socio-economic landscape of the northeastern region. In a landmark move, the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati has joined forces with Airbus India Private Limited to augment aviation and logistics education in Assam. This initiative aims to uplift the socio-economic conditions of the northeastern region, marking a significant step towards regional development, according to a statement by IIT Guwahati.
The agreement, which aligns with India's UDAAN Scheme focused on socio-economic reform, was formalized through a Non-Disclosure Agreement between IIT Guwahati's Director, Prof. Devendra Jalihal, and Airbus India President, Remi Maillard. Welcoming the collaboration, Prof. Jalihal emphasized that the initiative would empower local youth and foster innovation and economic growth.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma highlighted the potential of the partnership, noting its aim to create a robust workforce in key sectors like transportation, hospitality, and logistics. He lauded the initiative for its potential to boost Assam's profile in global trade and aviation. Suraj Chettri, VP at Airbus India, underscored the importance of skilled professionals for the growth of the aviation industry and pledged continued investment in workforce development through academia-industry partnerships.
