Prime Minister Narendra Modi commemorated the 10th anniversary of the 'Make in India' initiative, declaring that the endeavor has made India an unstoppable force. In a blog post on LinkedIn, he praised the citizens for their pioneering efforts and innovation, which have drawn global attention and curiosity to the nation.
PM Modi noted the tremendous progress since the initiative's inception. In 2014, the country had only two mobile manufacturing units; today, there are over 200. Mobile exports have surged from Rs 1,556 crore to Rs 1.2 lakh crore, a staggering 7500% increase. India now produces 99% of the mobile phones used domestically and has become the world's second-largest mobile manufacturer.
Highlighting achievements in various sectors, Modi pointed out that India has become a net exporter of finished steel with a 50% production increase. The semiconductor sector has attracted investments exceeding Rs 1.5 lakh crore, while renewable energy capacity has grown by 400%. The electric vehicle industry, once non-existent, is now valued at USD 3 billion. Defense exports have risen from Rs 1,000 crore to Rs 21,000 crore, reaching 85 countries. The PM also emphasized significant improvements in toys, technology startups, and ease of doing business.
