West Bengal to Launch Real-Time Bus Tracking App

West Bengal's transport department plans to introduce a mobile app offering real-time updates on bus operations for routes near the city airport and EM Bypass. In a bid to enhance efficiency in bus operations, the West Bengal transport department is launching a mobile app, officials announced on Thursday. The app will deliver real-time bus updates across 12 major routes near the city airport and EM Bypass.

Each bus driver will receive an Android phone linked to the app managed by the state IT firm WEBEL. This will provide officials and traffic police with timely bus location data and estimated travel times.

Commuters can use the app to learn about bus arrival times, while authorities can oversee driver conduct. Digital boards at bus stops will display real-time updates, and training workshops are underway for drivers. Full implementation is expected within two months.
