The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) announced plans to deploy approximately 100,000 Indian care workers globally each year in about two years. This initiative is designed to support aging populations across various countries, a move NSDC CEO Ved Mani Tiwari attributes to India's proactive soft diplomacy.
On the topic of unemployment, Tiwari emphasized reliance on official estimates, stating India's urban unemployment rate for individuals aged 15 and above fell to 6.5% from 7.2% year-over-year. He highlighted that the U.S. faces similar challenges with a 4.5% unemployment rate.
NSDC aims to boost its skilling infrastructure, intending to set up 50 future skill centers and ten international academies. The organization’s expanded programs, aligned with emerging technologies, target over two lakh trainees, restructuring employability and enhancing workforce readiness.
