A tragic stampede at New Delhi Railway Station has claimed 18 lives, with porters recalling the harrowing scene of transporting bodies amid the commotion. The chaos ensued when a large crowd gathered for a train heading to Prayagraj.

Witnesses report severe overcrowding, making it difficult for many to breathe. Northern Railway's Chief Public Relations Officer, Himanshu Upadhyay, cited a slip on the stairs leading to platforms 14 and 15 as the stampede's cause.

In response, the Railways has announced compensation for the victims: Rs 10 lakh for the deceased's next of kin, Rs 2.5 lakh for the severely injured, and Rs 1 lakh for minor injuries.
