The unemployment rate for people aged 15 years and above in urban areas experienced a slight dip to 6.4% in the October-December quarter, according to the latest figures from the National Sample Survey Office (NSSO).

This marks a minimal decline from the 6.5% recorded in the December quarter of FY24, while maintaining stability when compared with the previous July-September quarter of FY25, as per findings from the 25th Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS).

Significantly, unemployment among females in urban regions decreased to 8.1% from 8.6% the previous year. The labour force participation rate also saw an upswing, reaching 50.4%.
