The Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) has announced plans to purchase approximately 700 buses to enhance transport services across the state, Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri revealed on Saturday.
This decision was finalized during the HRTC's 159th Board of Directors meeting. The new buses aim to improve transportation access in remote villages, benefiting both residents and tourists, the statement added.
The central government has instructed the removal of 15-year-old diesel buses, which would reduce the HRTC fleet size. In response, 250 diesel buses will be procured, alongside 100 mini buses, two quick response vehicles, and four cranes. HRTC Managing Director, Rohan Chand Thakur, indicated ongoing improvements to enhance services and boost income.
