The Civil Aviation Authority is poised to accept Gatwick Airport's commitments concerning fare caps and service enhancements as long as the airport maintains its progress in expanding capacity, a spokesperson confirmed on Tuesday.

Located south of London, Gatwick, the second-largest airport in Britain, is urging the government to sanction its proposal to fully operationalize its back-up runway, thereby increasing flight capacity.

A decision by the government is anticipated soon, as Gatwick aims to fortify its position under the ownership of VINCI Airports and Global Infrastructure Partners.
