Bombay High Court Reinstates Consultancy Contract for Mumbai Metro
The Bombay High Court nullified the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority's (MMRDA) decision to terminate a consultancy contract with Systra MVA Consulting. The court criticized the MMRDA's arbitrary action, stating it failed to provide reasons for discontinuing services for Mumbai Metro routes, and ordered a reevaluation.

The Bombay High Court on Tuesday overturned a decision made by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) to terminate its contract with Systra MVA Consulting, a private firm providing consultancy services for the Mumbai Metro.
The court, led by Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice Arif Doctor, emphasized that state agencies must avoid arbitrary actions, even in contracts, and labeled MMRDA's termination as unjust. The MMRDA had not provided reasons for ending its collaboration with Systra MVA Consulting, which had been extended to December 2026.
The court's ruling quashed the MMRDA's notice and compelled the authority to reexamine its decision following a hearing with the consultancy firm.
