Transforming MSMEs: Madhya Pradesh's Roadmap to Global Competitiveness

The Asian Development Bank's Deputy Country Director, Aarti Mehra, emphasized the need for Madhya Pradesh to implement policies that help MSMEs grow into larger corporations. By connecting them to supply chains and providing better financial access, these enterprises can contribute significantly to the economy by becoming globally competitive.

At the Madhya Pradesh Global Investors Summit 2025, Aarti Mehra from the Asian Development Bank lauded the state for its impressive achievements in reducing poverty and excelling in agriculture, notably in organic farming.

Drawing attention to the MSME sector, Mehra stressed the importance of devising policies that elevate micro enterprises into major global players. She pointed out a pattern in various Indian states where MSMEs remain small even after a decade of operation, urging Madhya Pradesh to break this cycle.

The ADB official highlighted the advantages of expanding MSMEs into larger companies, such as enhanced economies of scale, increased employee wages, and greater resilience to economic shifts. She cited Rajasthan's success in augmenting MSMEs' size through strategic policy adjustments in 2015.
