The Government of India remains steadfast in its commitment to fostering a favorable investment climate, ensuring regulatory stability, and enhancing the Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) across the nation. Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal, reiterated this during his virtual address at the Pune International Business Summit 2025. The event, organized by the Mahratta Chamber of Commerce, Industries, and Agriculture (MCCIA), took place on January 24, 2025, bringing together industry leaders, policymakers, and global investors.
Strengthening Global Alliances & Investment Opportunities
Shri Goyal highlighted that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's recent visits to the United States and France have played a pivotal role in attracting investments and fostering international collaborations. He emphasized that the two-day summit would explore emerging trade trends, build strong alliances, and underscore the crucial role of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in advancing the vision of Viksit Bharat (Developed India). With representatives from over 20 countries participating, the event signals growing global confidence in India's economic resilience and business potential.
Key Government Initiatives Boosting Industry Growth
The Minister detailed the Union Budget's strategic investments aimed at strengthening India's innovation and startup ecosystem. The government has allocated a ₹10,000 crore Fund of Funds for Startups and established a Deep Tech Fund to support entrepreneurial ventures. Additionally, a substantial investment of ₹20,000 crore has been committed for the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), furthering research and development (R&D) in critical sectors.
He also highlighted the establishment of a high-level committee to streamline business policies, the launch of an investment-friendly index, and the introduction of Jan Vishwas 2.0, all of which reinforce the government's trust-based governance model.

Recognizing Pune as the 'Detroit of the East,' Shri Goyal commended the city's role as a powerhouse of innovation and industrial excellence. The city has emerged as a key hub for automotive, IT, manufacturing, and emerging technologies, making it an ideal venue for international business discussions. He noted that such summits play a crucial role in fostering collaborations, advancing industry benchmarks, and driving India's growth story on the global stage.

Shri Goyal lauded MCCIA for its efforts in bringing together industry pioneers and thought leaders, fostering dialogue, and shaping Maharashtra's industrial landscape. He acknowledged the 90-year-old association's significant contributions in driving economic progress, empowering entrepreneurs, and strengthening the business ecosystem in both Maharashtra and India.
