The United Kingdom has struck 17 new export and investment deals with India worth over £100 million, signaling a boost in economic collaboration between the two countries. UK Ministers announced these deals during their visit to India, highlighting the deepening ties between the nations most notably in technology and life sciences sectors.
UK Secretary of State Jonathan Reynolds and Investment Minister Poppy Gustafsson are leading the delegation, aiming to create hundreds of new jobs and further enhance the bilateral trade relationship, which has already surged to £41 billion in the last year. The recent deals are expected to significantly benefit UK insurance companies, thanks to India's increased foreign direct investment cap in the insurance sector.
The visit also marks the resumption of UK-India free trade agreement negotiations. Minister Gustafsson emphasized the UK's commitment to becoming even more collaborative, underscoring the strategic importance of India as one of the fastest-growing global economies. The UK delegation's tour of major Indian cities, including New Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, reiterates the commitment to strengthening these ties further.
