In a bold fiscal stride, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma declared the state as a burgeoning economic force, highlighting its transition to a net contributing entity with a GSDP growth surpassing the national average.
After Finance Minister Ajanta Neog presented the state budget, Sarma revealed that the fiscal blueprint of Rs 2.63 lakh crore for 2025-26 aims at socio-economic empowerment without imposing new taxes. Key beneficiaries include women and the middle class, with substantial allocations for various welfare schemes and infrastructural development.
Aside from economic measures, Assam is taking cultural strides with plans to launch its own OTT platform, showcasing the state's rich heritage and diversity, cementing its position on the national stage.
