Maharashtra has witnessed a concerning increase in road accidents over the past three years, according to data released by State Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik.
On Tuesday, Sarnaik detailed plans to procure machines capable of detecting drug use in drivers, alongside conducting standard alcohol tests.
With accidents climbing to 36,084 in the past year and associated fatalities also rising, authorities are turning to advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, to help reduce these figures and enforce traffic regulations more effectively.
