In a push for economic expansion, Industrial Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan urged amendments to Section 118 of the HP Tenancy and Land Reforms Act, describing it as an obstacle to investment. Speaking during the Vidhan Sabha's question hour, Chauhan emphasized that without simplifying these regulations, true industrial development remains unattainable.
Addressing BJP members Sukhram Chowdhary and Jeet Ram Katwal, Chauhan appealed for cooperation from the opposition to reevaluate Section 118, suggesting that a long-term policy could be formulated to attract investment in the industrial sector. The minister highlighted complexities in legal provisions that hinder the seamless sale of industrial land post-closure.
Apart from the legal framework discussions, developments are underway across numerous sectors. Vikramaditya Singh, Public Works Minister, addressed infrastructure in remote areas, expressing consideration for a connectivity tunnel in Dodra-Kwar, which remains isolated during winters. Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri assured the timely release of MLA Local Area Development Fund before March 2024.
