Goa's Substantial Wage Hike for Daily Workers

Goa's Chief Minister, Pramod Sawant, announced a significant increase in the remuneration of daily wage workers across various sectors. Benefitting around 3,000 workers, the increase will cost the state Rs 4 crore and offer additional benefits, including participation in the Employee Provident Fund and pension schemes.

The remuneration of daily wage workers in Goa has seen a significant boost, as announced by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant. This adjustment affects employees across government departments, state-run corporations, and local bodies.

Speaking at a press conference, Sawant revealed that the in-hand salary increase could rise as much as 51 percent. Approximately 3,000 workers are set to benefit from this development, which will entail a cost of Rs 4 crore for the state.

The revised wages, effective from August 1, will include additional benefits such as an Employee Provident Fund contribution and a 3 percent annual increment. Furthermore, eligible workers will gain access to central schemes like the Atal Pension Yojana and PM insurance plans.
