In a recent political exchange, Congress leader V D Satheesan launched a fiery critique against Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. Satheesan accused Vijayan of leveraging a Muslim organization's platform to disseminate divisive communal rhetoric. The controversy arose from Vijayan's speech during the 'Kerala Yatra' outreach initiative organized by Kerala Muslim Jamaat.
During a press conference, Satheesan argued that Vijayan falsely claimed an absence of communal riots under Left rule. He highlighted instances of unrest occurring during the administrations of CPI(M) veterans V S Achuthanandan and Kodiyeri Balakrishnan. Satheesan suggested Vijayan's actions contradict his projected image of a secularism advocate.
Furthermore, Satheesan criticized Vijayan's connections with SNDP leader Vellappally Natesan, known for controversial remarks against minorities. The Congress leader accused the CPI(M) of imitating the Sangh Parivar's strategies by fostering community conflicts for political leverage while claiming to uphold secularism.
