In the aftermath of a fatal accident, Codelco, the prominent Chilean mining company, has scaled down its copper extraction operations at the renowned El Teniente mine.
The incident, a collapse on Thursday, tragically claimed the life of one worker and trapped five others, highlighting the inherent dangers of mining.
Nonetheless, the company remains committed to its operations, keeping its concentrator and smelter active, as union leader Amador Pantoja informed Reuters, ensuring continued copper production despite the recent setback.
